Explore Our Peace Building

At Services Along the Nile International Ethiopia, our Peace Building Program promotes peaceful coexistence, reconciliation, and restorative justice across communities in Nono and Abeshge. The program equips communities with tools and structures to manage disputes without violence, fostering long-term stability and social cohesion.

By strengthening traditional and religious mediation systems, such as Aba Geda, and supporting local peace structures, the program creates self-sustaining community institutions. Over time, these practices reduce local conflict and serve as a model for peace and stability across the region.

Our Peace Building Programs
Our Peace Building Approach

Implemented in partnership with Meserete Kristos Church, the program is inclusive of all social groups, with a focus on gender and age:

Our Approach

By combining culturally sensitive methods with inclusive participation, the program ensures all community members benefit equally from peace-building efforts.

Women

Emergency Services:
Participate through school peace clubs, youth dialogues, and age-appropriate trauma healing sessions.
Men and Young Men
Engage in constructive activities that discourage cycles of revenge and promote reconciliation.
SN National Peace-Building Movement
The program collaborates with a range of actors to ensure effective and sustainable peace-building:
Traditional and Religious Leaders
Trusted mediators, including Aba Geda, guide reconciliation efforts.
Local Government Authorities
Provide legitimacy, support, and formal endorsement for project activities.
Community-Based Structures
Peace committees, self-help groups, women’s initiatives, and youth groups—established under the Nono Peace Project—are strengthened and expanded.
Schools and Teachers
Essential partners for trauma healing, peace education, and youth engagement.

Through these collaborative efforts, the program fosters lasting peace, mutual understanding, and resilient communities, contributing to a safer and more harmonious future in Nono, Abeshge, and beyond.
